Enfant Soleil is announcing that it will be funding 135 new impact projects that will bring the best in healthcare to children across Quebec. In addition to providing essential support to the four major university pediatric hospitals, it will be supporting the medical teams of more than a hundred hospitals and organizations in all regions that submitted funding requests last fall. These projects give hope to children coping with illness, to their families and to all the medical teams in charge of their care.

"Enfant Soleil works hand in hand with healthcare professionals to offer the very best in pediatrics, from diagnosis to essential follow-up and sometimes complex treatments. We think in terms of the care pathway, from the large medical centre where the child receives highly specialized care to the hospital in their region that will provide follow-up care. It’s the commitment of thousands of donors, partners, and volunteers that ensures a better recovery and greater comfort for children and their families, and that gives medical teams the tools they need to see their little patients heal and grow. It’s thanks to all of these people that we can say that beautiful things are on the horizon."– Jonathan Gendron, President and CEO, Enfant Soleil

« Every donation plays a significant role in improving the children’s day-to-day lives. Enfant Soleil’s impact goes far beyond medical equipment, environments and support for care programs: it brings hope and provides our teams with the means to carry out their mission with excellence. » – Andréanne Laliberté-Rhéaume, Youth Program Director, Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de Lanaudière
Spotlight on your impact
The projects supported this year will have a positive and vital impact on the care given to thousands of children. Each falls into one of the five broad areas of action Enfant Soleil has set to meet children’s medical needs. See the examples below. To discover all the projects, visit our news.
Promoting healing through optimal, welcoming care environments
In the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, some 350 babies are born in the neonatal unit of the Centre hospitalier régional du Grand-Portage each year. Set up in 1992, the unit will benefit from a functional structural layout to fully meet the needs of newborns, their families, and healthcare teams. In collaboration with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, Enfant Soleil will contribute to its redevelopment: a vital project that will include an optimized resuscitation room and the addition of innovative equipment that meets superior quality standards.
Providing state-of-the-art equipment, adapted to the needs and size of children
Every little one deserves the best care, wherever they are. That’s why we fund equipment adapted to the size and needs of each child in every region of Quebec. In the Centre-de-la-Mauricie region, a new resuscitation table will enable caregivers to respond to any critical care episode much more quickly and safely.
Enhancing care through innovative programs
Going to the ER with your child is stressful: it can be even more so when a child has to be transferred to another facility for care. In the Eastern Townships, a teleassistance project for specialized pediatric care was rolled out at Hôpital Fleurimont, and teams in all outlying healthcare facilities will be able to benefit from it. In urgent or complex medical situations, teleassistance enables care teams to benefit from the expertise of CHUS professionals remotely. This avoids the transfer of small patients, who can receive the best care quickly.
Supporting clinical research to improve care and take it to the next level
For one in 10 children with cancer in Quebec, the disease is linked to a genetic predisposition. To help children across Quebec, Enfant Soleil will contribute to the advancement of the early detection program for hereditary cancers at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. This project is fundamental to the future of young patients and their families. Thanks to this program, risks can be identified earlier, and the disease can be detected in its early stages. A tailor-made care plan can then quickly be put in place so that each child, surrounded by their family members and medical team, can focus on their future, health, and well-being.
Promoting healthy lifestyles among young people and preventing illness, thanks to the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund
Several Montérégie points of service offering rehabilitation services in physical impairment, intellectual disability, and autism spectrum disorder (CRDITSADP) will be able to acquire equipment to make rehabilitation fun and motivating for young people. A great way to help them engage in their recovery while ensuring their physical and mental well-being.
Luminous support, year after year
Since its foundation in 1988, Enfant Soleil has dedicated more than $337 million to the realization of thousands of promising, concrete projects throughout Quebec. This year, it will be donating more than $17.6 million to support new initiatives and help children heal and grow, with a smile on their face.
