Beautiful things on the horizon in Lanaudière: discover the projects funded for children in 2025

March 24, 2025

This year, Enfant Soleil is donating more than $77,500 in Lanaudière to improve the care and overall health of children in the area. It supports over a hundred healthcare establishments across the province, in addition to giving vital support to the four major pediatric centres, which provide specialized and superspecialized care to all children who need it.

Discover a project that will make our little sunshines glow with health.

Hôpital Pierre-Le Gardeur

Heated neonatal care table
The emergency department does not currently have a heated care table to quickly stabilize the condition of newborn babies on arrival at the hospital. This is a crucial piece of equipment, as a drop in an infant’s body temperature can lead to serious complications.

The addition of this table, funded by a $33,690 grant given by Enfant Soleil and the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, will complete the emergency department’s front-line healthcare services and ensure:

  • Faster, safer stabilization of newborns on arrival, reducing the risk of hypothermia-related complications;
  • Improved quality of care thanks to an adapted environment, facilitating emergency interventions and ensuring continuous monitoring;
  • Reduced stress for the care team and the parents, ensuring optimal care for young patients.

“Thanks to Enfant Soleil’s generosity, our teams can offer pediatric care and services that are increasingly adapted to the needs of our young patients and their families. Every donation makes a real difference to children’s daily lives. This solidarity enables us to innovate and continually optimize the quality of the services we can provide close to where they live.

Enfant Soleil’s impact goes far beyond medical equipment, environments and support for care programs: it brings hope and provides our teams with the means to carry out their mission with excellence.”

Other projects supported in the area

2 bilirubinometers
Used during postnatal home visits, this tool detects jaundice in newborns by quickly, gently and safely measuring the bilirubin level in their blood.

*These projects are carried out in collaboration with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

2 syringe pumps
Providing gentler, more gradual flow control, syringe pumps enable safe, precise tube feeding for newborns. This equipment increases comfort and reduces anxiety during the procedure.

Outdoor play module
The new play area will offer little ones a stimulating and entertaining environment to foster their motor development and cultivate their socialization, communication and creativity.

Nearly 200 children will benefit from this equipment, designed for ages 18 months to five years, offering new and enriching learning opportunities.

**These equipment is financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund (SSHF), which aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also cultivating emotional and mental well-being.

Calming and physical outlet room
Equipped with a stationary bike, stress balls and a sensory tent, this room gives young people a safe space in which to self-regulate, enabling them to pursue their activities in a better state.

Liam Tremblay, Lanaudière’s Enfant Soleil

He and his family help the cause shine in their region.

As soon as he was born, Liam had to be admitted to neonatal care and then transferred to Hôpital Sainte-Justine, where doctors discovered cervical spinal stenosis, a malformation that would restrict his physical activities for the rest of his life. At eight months, he underwent emergency surgery to decompress his spinal cord. Genetic testing revealed that Liam also suffers from chromosome 16 deletion syndrome, which causes motor delay, autism spectrum disorder, language impairment, ADD and a loss of muscle tone.

Every year, Liam visits Hôpital Sainte-Justine for checkups with several specialists. Gifted with an incredible memory, he has a passion for geography and does very well in school. In his home, love, laughter and a deep bond prevail despite the constant health challenges.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the various hospital foundations for their invaluable collaboration. As essential allies of Enfant Soleil, they brighten the lives of families affected by illness.
