This year, Enfant Soleil is donating more than $440,000 in Montérégie to improve the care and overall health of children in the area. It supports over a hundred healthcare establishments across the province, in addition to giving vital support to the four major pediatric centres, which provide specialized and superspecialized care to all children who need it.

Adapted spaces and equipment for local care
New ambulatory care unit and specialized clinics
The historic commitment of $1 million over two years is continuing for the construction of a new unit for pediatric patients in greater Longueuil and the Montérégie region.
The project includes an outpatient department with specialized clinics, adapted environments and state-of-the-art equipment.
This pediatric shift represents a major change for the hospital centre, which saw very few children until recently. Thanks to this project, local children will have access to specialized, high-quality, safe and innovative pediatric care close to homen.

Diagnostic tools and a phototherapy lamp
A range of tests for young people ages 5 to 17 in need of mental or physical health screening will be offered this year. These tests will enable rapid diagnosis and better care for children.
The lamp effectively treats jaundice, a condition that affects around 60% of full-term newborns and up to 80% of premature babies.

Ergonomic materials and physical rehabilitation equipment
Various tools for developing individualized objectives for treating children will be offered, as well as equipment to identify developmental delays or disorders, and to help assess motor skills.
Video laryngoscope
Adapted to children’s size and designed to minimize their discomfort and anxiety, the video laryngoscope will enable a good examination of the inside of the throat, nose and larynx, thanks to a camera that facilitates the intubation process.
Bilirubinometer
This tool detects jaundice in newborns by measuring bilirubin levels in the bloodstream quickly, gently and safely.
Several pieces of equipment
A variety of sports and mobility equipment will be financed at this facility, promoting the motor development of children ages 0 to 5 with motor development challenges.

Therapeutic rooms
The creation of this room will make it possible to support young people ages 0 to 6 living with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder.
In addition to increasing the number of children who can be seen daily, this space will be optimal for meetings with the child’s parents and caregivers.

A look back at a project carried out thanks to Enfant Soleil’s support
Thanks to a contribution of over $43,000, the Centre de services psychosociaux de Belœil was able to make its supervised visitation room a more welcoming and soothing environment for families.
The new room offers a warm, private and secure environment, where children can be reunited with their families in complete tranquility. The new layout encourages positive parent-child contact.
Projects financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund (SSHF)
The SSHF aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also fostering emotional and mental well-being. This fund will help eight organizations in the region carry out their projects for a total of $35,133:
- Hôpital Charles-Le-Moyne

- Several points of service offering rehabilitation services in physical impairment, intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder (CRDITSADP)

Flavie Deslandes, Montérégie’s Enfant Soleil
She and her family help the cause shine in their region.
Flavie suffers from an autoimmune disease that disrupts her immune system and attacks her kidneys. After more than two months in the hospital, during which she had to undergo several operations and treatments to control the progression of her disease, she was finally able to return home.
Today, Flavie is doing well, but she has to take immunosuppressants every few weeks and several medications daily, in addition to monitoring the amount of sodium she ingests. Despite her fragile immune system, Flavie shines every day with a contagious, radiant strength.
