Gift by will

Would you like to contribute to the well-being of sick children within your means? A planned gift in your will is a simple way to give the children of today and tomorrow the best possible chance of a healthy future, a wonderful legacy!

Why donate by will?

Act today while thinking of tomorrow

It's the most common way to plan a gift. Not so surprising, when you consider that it's easy to plan, adaptable to individual circumstances and often very significant for the cause you support.

Proactive and visionary

How will pediatrics have evolved in 10, 25, 50 years?

What will doctors need to offer the best care? How can we help children heal faster? Experience less pain?

Donating by will is making a decision today to indefinitely support generations of children to come.

Accessible

Philanthropy within everyone's reach

Philanthropy is often associated with the rich and famous, but in reality, people from all walks of life, here in Quebec and across the country, are also making extraordinary gestures.

Their will becomes a powerful way of supporting children's health and giving them a brighter future.

Significant

You have the power to dream big and give a larger gift than you may have thought

Giving $20,000 today may seem out of reach, but did you know that a simple percentage of your estate could make such a gesture possible? Often, the result is even greater than what was anticipated when the will was drawn up.

Sécuritaire

A donation by will lets you dream big without compromising your day-to-day life or depriving your loved ones

Whether it's a gift that will only be given upon the death of your spouse, to ensure they are provided for, or a percentage of your estate that includes all your loved ones, you decide how your wishes will be carried out.

Simple

When you get your will drafted, all you have to do is tell your notary that you'd like to make a donation to Enfant Soleil, specifying the organization's business number

If you already have a will, you can update it with a codicil to reflect any changes to your situation.

My family, my cause

You don't have to choose between the people you love and the cause you care about: the two can coexist

We encourage you to tell your loved ones about your gesture. It's a great way to share your wishes and pass on your values.

Tax advantages

You are making an informed financial decision

After your death, all your assets will be considered income, and your family will be heavily taxed in your final tax return. This is where your gift wil help. It will generate a charitable donation tax credit, which can considerably reduce, or even eliminate, the tax imposed on your heirs.

Brighten children’s lives today and tomorrow

The medical care and support given to children facing illnesses are always evolving. So too must the medicine and equipment used to care for them.

Leave the gift of sunshine to children like Zac

Zac had to work very hard to learn to walk again after undergoing hip surgery at the age of 10. He was able to do so more easily, with motivation and enthusiasm, by benefitting from a revolutionary walking reeducation and rehabilitation system that didn't exist just a few years earlier.

By choosing to light the way for sick children through a gift in your will, you are helping the teams who care for children go further and prepare a brighter tomorrow for current and future generations.

A few things to consider

Start thinking about your wishes, for yourself, for your loved ones and for the future.

You can ensure that you give according to your means while protecting your loved ones, by bequeathing a percentage of your estate, for example. This way, whatever the final amount of the gift, the value of your gesture will remain. Often, the result is even greater than anticipated when the will was drawn up.

It is also possible to bequeath a sum of money or a specific asset (a house, a vehicle, an RRSP/RRIF, or shares).

There are specialists who can help! A notary, a lawyer, a financial advisor... all can offer sound advice.

A carefully considered gesture will become a source of inspiration and pride for you, your loved ones and all sick children.

As for us, we'll be there to discuss your wishes and make sure they can easily be carried out.

With your loved ones: it's a great way to let them know your wishes and leave a legacy that embodies your values.

With others: it might encourage them to do the same. This form of giving is becoming more popular, but too few people seem to know how easy and impactful it is.

We'd love to thank you on behalf of the children, but we'd also like to make sure that we've understood your wishes and can easily respect them.

If you prefer to proceed without informing us, be sure to include the organization's official name and business number to avoid any confusion: Enfant Soleil, business number 127186690 RR0001.

And, if you decide to proceed, we thank you today on behalf of the children.

"Leaving a gift in my will is a gesture that will continue my involvement in this cause so near to my heart. I want to show my children that giving is a gift for myself, for them, for the future."

Volunteer, donor and ambassador of the Planned Giving program

"Everyone can do small things within their means to change the world. It's my turn to take up the torch and pass on these values to my children."

Delphine Dumas

Volunteer, donor and ambassador of the Planned Giving program

"While adults also battle illness, for children it’s more serious. We are aware that healing takes a lot of money. We feel that giving a percentage of our estate is the best way to make the most impact."

Donors

"Following the premature birth of my little Laurent, I became a monthly donor. Then, to thank the universe for saving my child, I wanted to do more. By asking Enfant Soleil and then my notary for more information, I realized that planned giving was easy and accessible to everyone. And it's such a gratifying gesture!"
