When a child is ill, the whole family’s life turns upside down. Being able to receive treatment close to home makes all the difference. Thanks to the funds donated this year, Hôpital Cité-de-la-Santé in Laval will be able to acquire several vital pieces of equipment:

  • 4 syringe pumps, which are intended for young patients under two years of age with bronchiolitis, will contribute to quick and gentle intravenous treatment. This funding is provided in collaboration with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

  • A video laryngoscope adapted to the size of children and designed to reduce discomfort and anxiety will facilitate intubation with a camera, enabling examination of the throat, nose and larynx.

  • 5 vital sign monitors will track children’s vital signs in real time, enabling faster and more appropriate care based on the data received.

  • A safe, comfortable treatment table adapted to children will ensure optimal positioning for both young patients and the care team.

“Using the video laryngoscope will improve urgent care provided to very sick newborns. And since we are also involved in a new tele-neonatology project with the Sainte-Justine team, the video laryngoscope will also enable more concerted care with the tertiary care centre team.”

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donations, which will help contribute to the well-being of vulnerable children by developing their skills and helping them overcome their challenges. They have started playing different games and they love it!”

Estelle Thiffault, Laval’s Enfant Soleil

She and her family help the cause shine in their region.

During a routine checkup at 35 weeks of pregnancy, Estelle’s parents learned that their daughter’s life was in danger. Fetomaternal transfusion was keeping her from moving and was putting her life at risk. An emergency C-section saved her life, but her journey was only beginning.

A few years later, Estelle was diagnosed with mild left cerebral palsy and began regular physical therapy. Today, she is stable and leads an active life despite a slight motor delay and persistent anxiety. Named Laval’s Enfant Soleil in 2017, she is back in 2025, eight years later, to share her story as a proud ambassador for the cause.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the various hospital foundations for their invaluable collaboration. As essential allies of Enfant Soleil, they brighten the lives of families affected by illness.
