Beautiful things on the horizon in Chaudière-Appalaches: discover the projects funded for children in 2025

March 25, 2025

This year, Enfant Soleil is donating more than $140,000 in Chaudière-Appalaches to improve the care and overall health of children in the area. It supports over a hundred healthcare establishments across the province, in addition to giving vital support to the four major pediatric centres, which provide specialized and superspecialized care to all children who need it.

Discover a project that will make our little sunshines glow with health.

Support to several physical rehabilitation centres

Enfant Soleil has supported Chaudière-Appalaches’ physical disability rehabilitation centres for several years now, helping to improve the quality of life of the region’s children. This year, it will be providing $22,400 for the purchase of rehabilitation equipment. This will expand the care offered, facilitating the care of young patients and promoting physical development better adapted to their needs :

2 walkers
These mobility devices enable young children with severe physical disabilities to explore their environment and learn to get around despite being unable to stand upright.

4 physical therapy tables
Given the growing demand for pediatric physical therapy, the addition of these tables will increase the number of physical therapists in service, allowing more children to receive care in a safe environment.

“Thanks to Enfant Soleil’s donation of physical therapy equipment, children living with physical disabilities can now receive essential care without needing to travel long distances, so they can concentrate fully on their recovery. Thank you for making a real difference in their lives.”

Other projects supported in the area

6 portable pulse oximeters
This device measures blood oxygen levels. Portable and equipped with an adapted and reusable sensor, it reduces the need to move young patients and speeds up their care.

Nasolaryngoscope
Adapted to the size of children, this device is designed to ensure comfort and reduce anxiety. It allows for the examination of the inside of the throat, nose and larynx. Rarely available in the area, this equipment will make pediatric care more accessible.

2 multiparameter physiological monitors
These devices enable real-time monitoring of cardiorespiratory functions, ensuring responsive and adapted care. With the data received, medical teams can quickly adjust treatments to maximize the chances of recovery.

3 phototherapy lamps
Financed in collaboration with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, these devices effectively treat jaundice, a condition that affects around 60% of full-term newborns and up to 80% of premature babies. Thanks to a larger exposure area, babies benefit from optimal treatment in the comfort of their home.

Portable pulse oximeter
For young patients recovering from day surgery, a portable pulse oximeter with an adapted and reusable sensor efficiently measures blood oxygen levels, without having to move the patient.

Laryngoscope
The purchase of this equipment will facilitate quick and safe intubation of newborns, which is crucial when every second counts.

Audiometer
This device assesses the health of the middle ear in children and can help detect infections such as otitis. Quick and painless, it provides an accurate diagnosis and helps tailor hearing care for children.

Soothing equipment for sensory rooms
Equipment such as a pedal exerciser and a sensory chair will help children soothe themselves and boost their confidence and independence while ensuring their well-being and personal development.

This equipment is financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund, which aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also fostering emotional and mental well-being.

Bryson Isabel, Enfant Soleil de Chaudière-Appalaches

He and his family help the cause shine in their region.

Vanessa and Alan’s happiness was shattered when their son Bryson was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease causing respiratory and digestive issues, requiring daily care. Worried and overwhelmed, they learned about this rare disease and how it would affect their son. After an adjustment period, the parents established a strict daily routine of treatments and medications, while remaining on the lookout for invisible dangers that could cause complications. Fortunately, thanks to a revolutionary treatment, Bryson’s quality of life is improving. For Vanessa and Alan, the most important thing is to enjoy the present moment and not let the uncertainty of the future overwhelm them. A little warrior with an infectious smile, Bryson reminds them every day that, even when facing challenges, life is worth living to the fullest.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the various hospital foundations for their invaluable collaboration. As essential allies of Enfant Soleil, they brighten the lives of families affected by illness.
